Michael loved nicknames, he had not always invented them himself but he used them a lot. I thought we could share all those nicknames and their backgrounds ….
I had already mentioned my main ones in a prior post:
Bordel Roulant – invented at the boy scouts where I had brought him along (he did not stay more than a year). Makes sense for PUTBUS, no ?
Prince Kropotkin – it was already said how much Michael loved history and how much he knew about it ! He was especially intrigued by fascist and totalitarian regimes – Franco, Hitler, …. including the Bolcheviks and apparently thought that the Russian anarchist and philosopher Peter Kropotkin would make a good nickname for me …. I hope there was no resemblance in the look ….

Malty Towers : Fawlty Towers with John Cleese (Don’t mention the war …) was one of Michael’s favourite TV-shows In the 80’s, and since I was a bit taller than him, he found the tower analogy ….
There were certainly others, like « Hans, the bomber pilot », applied to many German friends in general.
What about you ? Please share the nicknames he had for you and how they had originated. Thanks !
